Update on the Spring Recreational Season

We sincerely hope you and your family are safe and in good health. We are all adapting to this temporary reality which has shrunk our lives to not much more than our homes, the grocery store, and, for some of us, our workplaces.

Right now the most important thing we can all do is follow the recommendations by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and practice social distancing. We must not give COVID-19 an opportunity to spread, because every new confirmed case means another two weeks waiting and watching to see if anyone else becomes sick.

Unfortunately we do not know when it will be safe enough to start the spring soccer season. We are therefore postponing the start of the recreational season until the restrictions on non-essential businesses in Virginia are lifted, but we will not cancel the season.

The spring coaches meeting which had been re-scheduled for Thursday, April 2 is now postponed until further notice.

The regular monthly meeting of the Shenandoah County Soccer League Board of Directors scheduled for Thursday April 2 will be held virtually in order to comply with guidelines issued by the Virginia Youth Soccer Association.

We will provide another update about the spring season April 10.

The most important things we can do for ourselves and each other right now is to respect the guidelines about social distancing, follow the best practices for personal hygiene and hand washing, and not panic.

We look forward to re-opening the SoccerPlex and watching all of our kids play soccer at a point in the not-too-distant future.

Sincerely,

Adam Sharp
(on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Shenandoah County Soccer League Board of Directors)
