The fields have moved at the SoccerPlex, and there are new rules to help manage the risk of COVID-19.
After careful deliberation, and taking into consideration the current plans to re-open Virginia over the next several months, the Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 Spring Recreational season.
VYSA wants to stress that our number one priority is to our players and their families, coaches, volunteers and referees.
The Board of Directors understands some families no longer want to wait for the spring season. Therefore any player who is registered for the 2020 Spring recreational season who no longer wishes to play may transfer to the 2020 Fall season or withdraw and receive a refund.
Unfortunately we do not know when it will be safe enough to start the spring soccer season. We are therefore postponing the start of the recreational season until the restrictions on non-essential businesses in Virginia are lifted, but we will not cancel the season.
VYSA is strongly recommending to our member organizations that they suspend, at least through April 12, 2020, all activities that would create such in-person engagements. This would obviously include league and tournament matches and scrimmages, but also team practices/training, tryouts, and in-person group meetings.
The Executive Committee of the Shenandoah County Soccer League Board of Directors has decided to postpone the start of the spring recreational soccer season due to public health concerns.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), out of an abundance of caution, and in consideration of thewell-being of all players, families, coaches, teams, and clubs, the CCL, NSCL, VSL, SCSL and ODSL will postpone all leagueplay effective immediately and through April 12, 2020.
Congratulations to SCSL Thunder Strikers and SCSL Gladiators for winning the Fall 2019 Randy Rawls Sportsmanship award!
